Gibraltar Homes defied an otherwise depressed Florida housing market by recording a solid sales performance in 2010, including 30 contracts on new homes and more than $11 million in sales.

The breakdown for the year includes 14 contracts in Bougainvillea Place in Ellenton, 14 contracts in seven villages of Lakewood Ranch, one at the prestigious Legends Bay, and one on a privately owned home site. Prices ranged from $195,000 to a high of $750,000. The average sales price was $390,000, well above the Florida Southwest area’s median home sale price of $168,000, as reported by the Manatee Association of Realtors. Projects ranged in size from 1,450 to 4,000 square feet.

“We have participated in a market that is improving,” said Albert Sanchez, president of Gibraltar Homes. “Our homes focus on luxury at all sizes and prices, and we’re attracting buyers who wish to design a home specifically for their tastes and style. Based on year-end activity and the first few weeks of this year, 2011 should be a good year. We are currently projecting 50-60 sales for our company in 2011.”
